Jos stadium completion to gulp N800m—Gofwen

Plateau State Commissioner of Finance, Mrs. Tamwakat Gofwen, has said that the uncompleted Jos Stadium along Zaria Road will gulp a total of N800 million for it to be ready for use.

Gofwen stated this on Thursday, at the presentation of the detailed breakdown of the 2017 budget signed into law by the State Governor, Simon Lalong, on May 10.

She stated that the reason for not completing the stadium was as a result of paucity of funds, adding that contractors are still being owned large sums.

The Commissioner explained that the present administration met a ‘hopeless’ situation in terms of funds but added that the current administration has been able to rescue its people from a state of hopelessness to a state of confidence.

“The 2017 budget is tagged ‘Budget of Rescue and Confidence Building’ and the implementation of the budget will be anchored on the 5-pillar policy trust of the administration with emphasis on the completion of the on-going projects and commencement of crucial ones that are dear to the people,”she said.

Extra Time reports that, the 2017 budget has a total sum of N139,494,308,256.00, only and is less than 2016 budget with the sum of N7,201,876,862.00.

The budget also has the sum of N70, 131,608,961.00, as capital expenditure, while the sum of N69, 362,699,295.00 is for recurrent expenditure.
